Why Are We Still Paying to Collect Union Dues?

  • June 09, 2014
  • 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM
  • Avondale Fire Company, 23 Firehouse Way (just off of Rt 41S), Avondale, PA 19311

You have all heard about Paycheck Protection, the bill designed to prohibit governmental entities from collecting dues for public sector unions.  The bills have been moving through the State House and Senate, but have drawn enough opposition to hold them up for the time being.  Do you want to learn more about the opposition to these bills and what can be done to move the legislation forward?  Then join us on Monday, June 9th when we’ll get two outstanding perspectives on Paycheck Protection from:

Matt Brouillette, President and CEO, Commonwealth Foundation

John Lawrence, PA State Rep.,  13th District

Matt has been one of the leading voices in favor of policies like Paycheck Protection and John is a co-sponsor of the bill in the House (HB 1507).  Both men will share their unique perspectives on the issue, including the legislation, current status and what needs to be done to get the bills passed this year.  Note:  It is critical that the legislation gets passed this year.  If Tom Corbett does not get re-elected as governor, it is unlikely that Tom Wolf would sign Paycheck Protection legislation.

So come join us for an informative and exciting evening.  The meeting will be held at the Avondale Fire Co. and will begin promptly at 7:00 p.m.  Doors will be open at 6:30, so come early and enjoy a few minutes catching up with old friends or meeting new ones.  We hope to see you there.
